'Royal Road' in Krakow
The walk through the path „Royal Road” in Cracow will lead us from middle ages walls and Florianska Gate, through Florianska street to the heart of Cracow...
The Main Market Square - it is one of the most magnificent squares of Europe that has been pulsated with life for centuries and on which inhabitants and tourists spend their free time and take part in various kind of ceremonies or concerts, meet with their families and friends. Cafe and beer gardens are known all over the world and the restaurants with delightful food attracts customers.
The Cloth Hall - Sukiennice - Since the middle-ages people could buy here clothes, jewellery, precious metals and also wax olive and other products. Nowadays stalls atrract amateurs of shopping and offer them masterpieces of the handicraft of Cracow land.
The Gallery Sukiennice - the Cloth Hall - on the first floor there is a gallery of pictures. You can see admirable pictures made by famous painters like for example: Jan Matejko, Henryk Siemieradzki, Artur Grottger, Jacek Malczewski, Jozef Chelmonski, Piotr Michalowski, Marcel Bacciarelli, Per Kraffte Older and many others...
St.Mary’s Basilica - this, what is the most precious on The Main Market Square, is hidden inside of the gothic St.Mary’s Church which is towering over the square - Altar of Wit Stwosz. The altar is a masterpiece of the XVth century woodcarving.
The small Church of St.Adalbert - from the outside romanesque, but inside baroque, located on the Main Market Square at the mouth of Grodzka street.
Town Hall Tower - gothic rooms in which it is often possible to watch exhibitions of photographs. If we go up to the top floor, we will see the superb view of the city.
From the Main Market Square, we go through Grodzka, Senacka and Kanonicza streets directly to the Wawel Hill. On the way, we are admiring the charms of small streets and their buildings. We will climb to the Wawel Hill onthe way which will lead us there. And there we are facing gorgeous views…
The Royal Castle - the residence of Kings and mansion, amazing renaissance courtyard of italian style. From courtyard, we enter to see Representative Chambers on the second floor and on the first floor we can watch Private Royal Apartments (the sightseeing must be booked earlier).
The Armory and Royal Treasure - can be also visited.
The Wawel Cathedral - inseparable bound up with the Wawel Hill. Its interior is full of relicts of the past, decorations, gifts of Kings, Popes, Bishops, rich men and people of simple faith. They will tell us untold stories...
